Travel Purpose: business
Positive: Quiet, peaceful, roomy property, centrally heated, with parking. Lovely host, who gave me lots of tips and suggestions. Also had Wifi, hair dryer, and complimentary goodies (none of which advertised). Garden surrounded by tall hedges, with lovely well maintained trail/walk (approx 3 miles) to Coniston lake directly behind. Rear garden had dozens of different visiting birds; even saw a little rabbit in front garden one morning. Great location for walks, exploring The Lake District (I managed Ulverston, Windermere, Arla Force, even tackled Kirkstone Pass (challenging!), and other places. Pub and deli opposite, with great fish n chips and butchers a few miles south. Loads of cafes, pubs, petrol, and shops in Coniston village. I recommend the friendly welcome and great food at The Ship, en route to village (sharp left turn); The Crown does daily specials. Super cafe at Coniston Lake, sitting outside with the ducks, and boats for hire. Superb scenery everywhere, of course. Too much to mention really!
Negative: Expensive parking everywhere (e.g. £5+/2 hrs, £8+/4 hrs), and loos in village car park 60p - rip off! (Plenty free in pubs/cafe.) Wasn't really anywhere to hang wet coats, dry off dog, leave wet boots, away from carpet on floors. Cobwebs and spiders around most windows.
Summary: Had a great stay, with loads to do and explore, with happy dog.
