a large village, with mainly traditional dwellings that cluster around the mere and village greens, it is served by three country pubs, a village shop, a post office and a fish and chip shop
the railway station there is only 2 minutes walk away and extremely useful; only one stop to bridlington and four to scarborough! this is a lovely area for gentle walking, exploring the countryside and visiting stately homes and gardens such as sledmere house and burton agnes hall
a short ride takes you to the popular east coast seaside resorts with their long sandy beaches, whilst the historical city of york, with its famous minster, is well worth a visit
