Summary: We stayed a Friday through Monday for a family wedding on Sunday. The house was very clean and spacious and very close walking distance or a cheap uber to most places. At first the stay was good. We had light bulbs out in the main bathroom and Anahi delivered new ones first thing the next morning. She was very responsive to messages. The downfall was when we first got there the toilets did not want to flush well and we would have to wait 10 minutes to flush them if they didn't flush the first time. Okay no biggie but then on Sunday when taking a shower, the water wasn't draining. Shortly after that we had sewage coming back up through the other shower drain so the pipes in the house were obviously not working. I called and left a voicemail for the host so she would know what was going on just in case she needed to send someone out right away and we also could no longer use the toilets. She sent a message back stating she got my voicemail and said they recently got the pipes replaced but were afraid that might happen because they were still having issues. She did offer to reimburse us for a hotel but at that point we were going to be at the wedding until after midnight and also did not have a car, that's why we booked a house close to the venue. So, we did stay there another night because we were leaving the next day but agreed on her refunding one night of the rental. After leaving the property the next day I had to reach out again for a refund. She only refunded me her amount received not the actual full night's cost that I paid because that's all she received after Vrbo took out their taxes and fees. After contacting Vrbo almost every day for over a week and them just sending her courtesy emails about the refund then finally contacting her while I was on the phone, since she refused to pay the rest of the refund, I never received the full nights refund because Vrbo would not intervene. First, I am upset because the rental property was not in working order and should have been made known to me before we stayed because I would have rented another house if I had known the pipes may be an issue. Second, I was only asking for one night's refund not the whole amount when realistically the pipes weren't working from the beginning but still didn't even receive that full night's refund. Then third Vrbo was of no help with trying to get the refund I deserved. Because of this experience I will never rent through Vrbo again.
