Snittlegarth is home to roe deer, badgers, foxes, pheasants and a variety of songbirds, with red squirrels coming up to the lodges to feed. The original Snittlegarth Estate was owned by Lord Gillford and extended to 12,000 acres. It is now farmed on a smaller scale and has the benefit of local footpaths Binsey Fell and beyond.

A 20-minute drive to Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth, you have a wide range of independent retailers, coffee shops, bars and pubs, including the famous Jennings Brewery Tour.
