Summary: My husband and I spent three weeks at Casa del Borgo and the description and photos are totally accurate. We enjoyed the sounds of the countryside and being very close to the piazza where the market is held every Friday. Although we had a car, we were able to walk to virtually everywhere in the town of Calatafimi such as the butcher, grocery store, panificio, pasticceria, and other local stores and restaurants. We also enjoyed simply walking around including a trek up the castle ruins! The apartment is situated on two floors: the ground floor room contained a comfortable sofa and television, the large table accommodated our daily meals, and though compact the kitchen wall and freestanding cabinet was well-equipped to handle meal preparation including our Thanksgiving dinner! It was also very convenient to have a toilet on this floor next to the kitchen. Although the room had a single window and double entry doors, the room was very bright. Especially given our lengthy stay, the washing machine was particularly useful. During some cold rainy days, the small electric heater provided sufficient comfort to take off the chill. The first floor bedroom with ensuite bathroom features a large front-facing window which made the room very bright as well as double doors opposite the window for additional light. The bathroom was complete with shower, toilet, bidet, and sink. A large wardrobe, small table, chest with drawers, and two trunks serving as nightstands was more than adequate for our clothing and other personal belongings. While we greatly enjoyed the cottage and the town, be aware that the wireless internet may become spotty during inclement weather. Also, given the elevation of this town, you will be walking and driving on some steep hills, which includes the cottage located at the bottom of a fairly steep road. While this wasn’t particularly a problem for us, it may be for those of limited mobility. Our host Elena, as well as her aunt and cousin, was completely welcoming, friendly, and always available to provide information and answer questions. It’s hard to describe how looking out over the valley each day was like viewing a living postcard!
