Positive: This home suited our 8-person adult-only family well. It was spacious and slept everyone in good sized beds. The home and the live-on-site owners were extremely quiet. There are some nice views of Mt. Hood. I'll note that Hood River-area lodging seems to be pretty expensive in general, at least mid-summer. Had we booked more than the 2 or 3 months ahead that we did, maybe we would have found a better value, but based on what we saw at the time, I don't think we would have chosen anywhere different even if we had realized the cooktop situation (see below) in advance. This home checked all the boxes for the important things like cleanliness, spaciousness, beds, relative convenience, and quiet. Pretty low traffic area that's good for road-bike riding.
Negative: Not so much "didn't like" but info that people should know before booking... Our activities were mostly in Hood River, so we had to drive 20-ish mile trips several times during our stay, but we have no complaints about the location. There were benefits to being in this rural area. I'd say the photos depict the property pretty accurately. Many of the furnishings, spa, etc., aren't particularly new but everything was very clean, which is more important. The only real surprise was that there are no built-in cooktop or oven in the kitchen. The owner - we saw the husband a few times during our 3-night stay - explained that they had been required to remove them due to zoning or code restrictions for their property that only allow one kitchen - they live in their own home that is attached to this rental home - and that they left as much in the way of cooking facilities as the inspector would allow. This info is in the listing if you read really carefully but I guess we didn't get past where it says "full kitchen" or something like that in the booking.com description. As stated in the listing details, there are many other plug-in appliances available in the (full-sized) "kitchenette". Honestly, it worked out ok. We visited in summer, had no rain, and discovered that there is a gas kitchen-quality cooktop located on the front deck (that we found more useable than the single plug-in burners available in the kitchen). We never needed an oven, but there is a huge countertop one that would have been plenty large for any baking we might have done. (It might be large enough to roast a turkey.) There is also a gigantic Instant Pot, which we might have used had we not brought our own small one. An Instant Pot can be used in place of a stovetop burner for many things, including sauteeing.
