There is a lot to do and see in the area. We are in a homeowners association that would give you access to 3 ponds and Lake in the Sky. We are within walking distance from Holiday Hills Pond in the Top of the World Community. You can use our canoe on the pond. The Lake has a park and beach. also, we are within 20 minutes from townsend, maryville, and tallassee; You can check Trip Advisor for things to do in these small towns. Townsend is very cool. Elvira's, The Social, The Abbey, Steak and Trout, and more are places to eat. Townsend has an IGA grocery store. Maryville is a bigger town that is good for groceries and a bunch of restaurants. There are two great 50-style burger joints there and BBQ. There is a Walmart supercenter in Maryville. Alcoa has Walmart and Aldi. Townsend has three swinging bridges, and you will drive through there on the way to the Park, so they are cool quick stops.
rain day activities include tuckaleechee caves in townsend, the train museum in townsend, and the cades cove museum in maryville The rain may not last all day.
there is a skylift in wears valley, harper brothers mountain, and horseback riding
some waterfalls, like meigs falls and the sinks, are easily seen from the park road There are many more waterfalls. Just use the park information to see how long a hike is. Use the mile markers on the map but not in the Park to help you locate things. A good GPS can tell you what mile you are at, but load it before you go while on Wi-Fi. Bring a picnic lunch. In Cades Cove, pick a couple of stops. Trying to see all the cabins might be too much. The Visitors Center in Cades Cove is a good one. The Mill and homesteads with multiple buildings are my favorites.
we are very close to the park border, so bears are in the area
