We have now lived for over 20 years in this sunny southwest corner of France and our farmhouse, which is surrounded by vines and sunflowers, is on the edge of the tranquil village of Les Vignes, which lies on the Charente/Charente-Maritime border in the heart of Cognac country, just 5 minutes from Matha and 15 minutes from Cognac. Les Bouleaux, which sleeps 4 is at the bottom of a 100 metre gated drive accessible via a quiet lane. The property is set in 3 acres of former vineyards and benefits from having its own private heated swimming pool for sole use. The pool sits in a southwest facing secluded garden where you can while away the hours soaking up the sun and taking in the peace and quiet with a glass of your favourite tipple.

About 50 minutes west are the costal towns and beaches of Royan, Rochefort and La Rochelle. The latter with its historic port and seafood restaurants. Or if you prefer not to travel there is a lake and sandy beach at the next village of Thors just a few minutes away. Bordeaux and Futuroscope are only slightly further afield.
