Summary: We were looking for somewhere to escape to for a long weekend. This was it. We knew what we'd booked, we'd seen the pictures, but The Hayloft is, up close and personal, better than the photos. From the first sight as you emerge from downstairs, there's a well-equipped kitchenette and dining area, then a sitting area with a TV (we didn't use it but it's a big screen model) and sofas and a chess and backgammon set and an Amazon Echo device, then doors to the bedroom, and at the back of the bedroom, a bathroom with a separate bath and shower, sink, loo, all that. They'd even supplied enough bread, milk and cereal that the first breakfast wasn't any sort of problem. We were, frankly, amazed. It's far bigger than it looked in the photos; up there with the best accommodation we've ever experienced. The bed was comfy and the place so quiet that sleeping wasn't a problem. There are a couple of downsides. It's a few miles from civilisation and the roads around it are narrow and a little scary as a result. However, Sudbury's not far away and there are a collection of shops and supermarkets that make the self-catering process straightforward. And your mobile phone is going to struggle to get signal. If you use (as we do) Android Auto or similar in your car for navigation, to need to get the destination sorted on your phone before you go to your vehicle, ensuring you're still able to use the provided (free) WiFi. It was a delight and we loved it. And we'd go back.
