Positive: I don't know where to begin, this guesthouse will forever be one of my favourite places to stay. I have fond memories of writing, reading, relaxing here. It's so tranquil. I booked originally for two nights and stayed for 10 days. The 'dorms' are either 4 beds or 2 beds. I had some of the best sleep on my travels. The futons are comfy and very warm. There are bed curtains for privacy and then room curtains which are very effective blackouts The hosts are so lovely too. Hajime/Jimmy loves to chat with the guests, and both he and his wife exemplify the kind and courteous Japanese hospitality. The guesthouse attracts curious and nice solo travellers of both foreign and local origins.

Negative: I would call the kitchen a kitchenette as there's no stove. There is still a fridge, hot water dispenser, toaster oven, microwave and all the cutlery/bowls/mugs you could need, but I was disappointed to discover I wouldn't be able to cook. However I was granted permission to use my camping stove and I everything I needed to self-sufficiently cook so this was not an issue. Just ask Jimmy if you'd like to do the same. There's also only one shower for the whole guesthouse but this was never an issue for me.
