Alternatively, you can take BUS 301 which takes you to Metro A "Lepanto" in approximately 40 minutes (depending on Rome traffic). From the "Lepanto" metro A stop you can proceed on foot in 15 minutes towards Piazza del Popolo (historic centre), and from there proceed on foot in 10 minutes towards the historical center towards Piazza di Spagna, Trevi Fountain and Piazza Venezia. The Vatican and St. Peter's Square can be reached in 5/15 minutes from the "Lepanto" metro A stop. Even at night there are night buses.
