in april 2020 korean artist yun sobe guest house owner painter who is particularly interested in japanese old folk houses decided to start his own special project i bought an old folk house
he worked directly on every corner of the purlin and barn eventually the old barn was transformed into a contemporary art gallery and the main building was transformed into a guest house however old folk houses over 100 years old are so rare in japan today that he tried to keep them as original as possible during the renovation / the paintings furniture and other sculptures displayed in the main house guest house are all the work of the artist yoon seo
the gallery iioka museum of old folk houses has a collection of about 5000 works collected or created by the artist yoon seo from his twenties the kominka museum iioka exhibits international contemporary art and his personal collection throughout the year
