A short but scenic drive away there are the famous Calanais Stones which predate even Stonehenge and are a must-see if you are in the area. You can drive over to the Isle of Harris, the original home of Harris Tweed, which has plenty to offer its visitors from beaches, rugged mountains, historical monuments and a whisky distillery. On the north west side of Lewis you can visit the village of Arnol with its Blackhouse Museum, an unmissable visit for anyone wanting to understand the way of life that was once widespread in Lewis.
