Boat tours on Lake Vänern depart from Åmål, Dalsland's only city. The city is known from the movie "Fucking Åmål" far beyond Sweden's borders, based on a romantic drama film that premiered in 1998. Åmål has a central guest port, many small shops and an old city center.
