Summary: We were 2 families, 4 adults and 4 teenagers, staying for 1 week in August 2022. And we were the first to move into the house after the terrible forest fires at Dune du Pilat had destroyed the forest and 4-5 camping sites behind the dune. We had a great stay at the house. Cecile was very welcoming and helped us (via chat) wherever she could, especially when we weren’t sure if we could actually access the house (due to the fires). The house is very cosy – we felt comfortable immediately. 4 double bedrooms are in the main house and another double room in a separate living house/hut in the garden. The house is well-equipped, so we didn’t miss anything major. The is a spacious main living room with couch seating and large dining table and connected open kitchen area. The pool is very large, so large the kids even enjoyed using flippers. The pool had its own outside shower, which is fantastic. While the house fits 10 easily, the dining table and chairs were for 8, same for the terrace table. It was really great – you could easily walk from the house onto the terrace, as well as down the wooden steps to the pool – all in bare-foot. Also, we enjoyed chilling on the deck chairs in the sun or in the shade, with areas of shade on a part of the garden for most times of the day. Excellent outside dining at a large terrace table, with full evening shade from the house. The house is located in a quiet cul-de-sac on the edge of the forest. Very quiet – no early-morning traffic disturbing our sleep. The road is up a hill from the beach, but you can walk down to the beach (and up) easily. Looking for negative points: a) The house is not new anymore – if you are looking for a “modern villa”, this house is possibly not for you. But everything feels very cosy. b) The main building only has 1 toilet, which is not perfect for large groups of 8. Although there is a second toilet in the garden house/hut. c) A few of the wooden planks around the pool needed repairing. But nothing very dangerous. I saw some new planks waiting to be used, so I am confident that they do attend to this as needed. All-in-all: we had a great time – big thanks from all of us! :)
