a very special neighborhood! what's amazing about sausalito is that even with san francisco just minutes away, sausalito is really a small thriving town People know each other, they look out for each other, and they help each other.
moreover, the town-wide events are fantastic! the rec department sponsored bocce leagues, city-wide garage sales, chili cook-offs, souper bowl, gingerbread house decorating competition, jazz & blues on summer evenings..
it's a real life actual small-town, with a 4th of july parade like you remember from when you were a kid it's all that while being a 10-minute drive or short ferry ride into the city!

sausalito is a just a fabulous place There's a huge influx of tourists, particularly in the summer, starting with the first morning ferry from San Francisco but they stay on the other side of town and in any case are mostly gone with the last ferry.
