Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: The room itself was lovely! Had a very comfy bed, lovely bathroom and great air conditioning. The hotel was in a great location. The young boy who worked there was lovely and very helpful!
Negative: We booked a room for 3 people for 4 nights, but informed the hotel that one of us would be joining after 2 nights. When we arrived they brought us welcome drinks (there were 3) and the girl at reception asked where the 3rd person was. We told her that she was arriving in 2 days and that we had already informed our contact for the hotel (which was given to us on booking.com). Obviously he had not passed it onto the staff. When we were taken to our room there was only 1 bed and no bed for a 3rd person. Which we found strange as they had clearly been expecting 3 people. When I contacted the person on WhatsApp to ask where the bed was and to confirm the pickup of our other member - I received a response saying yes I know I have already spoken to you about this. It was strange because yes we had spoken but our reception at the hotel gave the impression that no one had been informed as the she staff had no idea!? It worked out to be fine as they brought another bed on the morning she was arriving but the communication issue really confused us. The girl at reception was also extremely blunt, almost rude every time she spoke to us. For example when we arrived we were told breakfast was from 7-12pm - we are light eaters and chose to have a later brunch to combine the meals - at around 11am. On the second day of this she rudely told us that we had to come to breakfast before 11am even though she previously told us 12. The breakfast wasn’t anything exciting, mostly local dishes containing tuna - so if you don’t eat tuna like us there aren’t really any other options. Overall the island was very underwhelming- every beach was completely covered in rubbish which was extremely disappointing. Even the beach right in front of the hotel where the restaurant you eat breakfast at was filthy. I have no idea what our environment tax is going to on this island as they definitely aren’t picking up rubbish.
