Summary: We had high hopes for our stay at the Metcalfe & it definitely had pros and cons. The lobby is stylish and a nice spot for a drink. The light filled space is modern and stylish, but I definitely can understand people's complaints of having a room facing it. The location is good and we found it a decent spot to be based for walking. The room was a good size and the beds comfortable with amenities such as an iron & coffee maker. The restaurant food was good but had limited options - it was various egg dishes or Greek yogurt for breakfast. The pros ... 1) the shower is awkward. It's hard to reach in and turn on without spraying yourself in the face and leaked water very easily. No bathtub. 2) I was awoken at 5am to brawling club goers ... there was then a steady stream of intoxicated people waiting on Ubers talking loudly outside our window until 7am. Needless to say I was not amused. Thursday night we didn't hear noise but Friday night this was an issue so perhaps it's a weekend problem? Seems like the hotel and club could work together to ensure club goers kept noise down on the street ... perhaps a sober bouncer reminding people to keep voices down? Wish I'd seen warnings of the noise - it's definitely not a hotel for light sleepers!
