Summary: My favorite aspect of my stay at this hotel was the staff. Everyone - from the front desk to housekeeping to the folks at breakfast to the man cleaning the floors was friendly and helpful and welcoming. I felt very comfortable all the time. The location is great - easy to walk to plays, shops, and restaurants. Safeway is across the street, and our room (a standard 2-queen-bed room) had a refrigerator with a real freezer and a microwave. The hotel breakfast was standard - yogurt, fruit, toast, oatmeal, etc. - and the hotel always (maybe 24 hours?) had fresh coffee (with and without caffeine), half-and-half, and lots of teas. There was also good water for my water bottle. There were also many places to sit. I had access to the breakfast room until midnight or later - an easy place to work. There were also multiple places to sit outside; I enjoyed them all. The pool and hot tub were both comfortable. For me this was no drawback, but FYI: I found the place carefully maintained. It's clear that whoever's in charge really cares about hospitality and keeping things up. However, everything isn't new. I am good with that - the hotel didn't feel like a chain, and I like that. I know sometimes others do like new, though, so this is just information for those folks. I intend to return to the Stratford. We were there 4 nights in July, and we enjoyed them all. Ah - forgot to mention - parking was free and very easy.
