Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Staying in a traditional ryokan was a unique experience. You have to roll with it a bit as it's not comparable to a more modern hotel, but if you're willing to do that you're in for a treat.

Negative: Things like not having your own bathroom would put me off normally, but you have to accept the experience on its own terms. The food was excellent but if we'd stayed longer we would have liked the opportunity to opt out of the evening meal, so that we could try other places in the area.
