Positive: I've written a detailed report which contains both positives and negatives in complete context, rather than separating the two. The property is actually a former boat house in a row of 30-50 or so of such garages, on three levels. This property is in the upper-most row. The access 'road' is over the roofs of the lower level boat garages. As such this is access designated as private and constitutes good parking facilities for all manner of vehicles (road, off-road and water-based) for you and your neighbours. Thankfully there is no such road over the roof of this particular property as there are no further boat houses the next level above. Given the narrowness of the garages' layouts (approx 3.5m) you live very close to your neighbours. The accommodation has a classic Maltese layout for summer/holiday home, in this sequence: front door, living room / kitchen, bedroom, finally bathroom at the back. Each partitioned off with an internal wall and door (incl one internal window). What is missing is a private outdoor area beyond the bathroom at back, e.g. garden or balcony. So there is no private outdoor area, but also no air flow through the accommodation. The only 'window' to the outdoors is the front door. There is a tiny vent in bathroom, but it is not effective. Once I got hold of two fans, placed one at the front door and one in the doors of the internal partitions, the ventilation problem was solved. The air conditioning unit does work, but naturally it only recirculates air. I preferred fresh cool air from outside (it still was beginning of May when I visited), much more plentiful and better for drying out my items of scuba equipment, surfing wetsuit etc, inside the accommodation. For my expensive equipment I preferred not use the clothes hanging lines outside along the 'road' which is publicly accessible.
Negative: [continued detailed report from above ] A microwave would be good to have to complement gas hob & oven. It would be much safer than handling cooking gas and matches, i.e. live fire, indoors given the lack of ventilation. All facilities work (fridge freezer, hob and oven, air conditioning, water heater, shower, lights), although some (hob, fridge) show their age and are of type commensurate to the overall accommodation type (converted garage). The bathroom has a bright strip-light. WiFi worked well. Water pressure is good in the shower. Bed is firm and comfy. Sunrise is directly opposite the front door, giving spectacular colours, if you are up early. The small plastic table originally placed next to the hob in the kitchen is easily moved to the bathroom where it is much more useful to place items on. Minor additional things which would need improving or fixing: the light bulbs in living area and bedroom are too dim - perhaps by design not to invite bugs? I was tempted to exchange them myself. The main tap in kitchen sink is more of a spray than solid stream of water, and gives the user a minor shower. These are only minor nagging things. For what you get, the price was a bit expensive. I would certainly consider coming back, now that I know how to adapt the basic facilities, but at a lower price point.
