Summary: The house itself was clean and presentable; appears to be newly remodeled. The space is suitable for several people, and my dog loved the fenced-in backyard. I rented this house expecting it to be a private property from its description, which is incorrect and misleading. Upon arrival, there was a truck in the driveway. I inquired about this, and the owner said there are apartments across the street (implying that it was an apartment tenant's vehicle). Later that night, a truck with a trailer parked in the front yard. To my surprise, the building in the backyard (with a side yard entrance) is a home, and a man was living in it. This was an uncomfortable feeling for me regarding the safety of my family. Even though the man seemed nice, that did not void the fact that a man was living in the backyard of a "private" rental. The sliding back doors do not lock, which made us even more uneasy. One of the front rooms is a separate apartment, and during my last night at the property, a couple stayed there (possibly the owner?... again, not sounding like a private property, right?). The electrical panel is not located in the main house where we stayed, which could be hazardous if an electrical issue arose and we had no way to access the breakers. The smoke alarms are painted over, and I question their functionality as well. The owner responded via emails, and I appreciated the ease of communicating with her. Overall, the home is cozy, but we did not feel safe. I hope the owner takes this review and eithers markets this property as semi-private or modifies these conditions to truly make it private.
