Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: It's on a hill overlooking the beach. Its a beautiful beach. I don't think it can ever be overcrowded because there is much more beach than any parking around. We were there during a wind event, which wasn't too bad, gusts of 30 miles an hour, but there was literally no one on the mile and a half of sand. It was our private beach for two days, with an occasional horse cantering by. One of the greatest/complete roman town excavations is just sitting there for your inspection.
Negative: The wind event mentioned above made the house noisy at night with whooshes and bangs. The owners/managers emailed us the day we were travelling asking us to arrange a time to get the keys, which we didn't get because we were travelling, and cell service was spotty, adding up to us bothering the pharmacy employees to make phone calls for us. shared narrow driveway difficult. But goddam, the chance to experience your own private beach brings everything up to ten - location should be 14. notice - only way to see roman site is by car to museum, you can see from beach through fence but entrance is off highway a mile away, can't really walk there.
Summary: It feels like Big Sur circa 1940. A mile of beach to ourselves, remarkable.
